Jesus Succession Plan

The act of succeeding, or following after; a following of things in order of time or place, or a series of things so following; sequence

"I do it—you are observing.”

"I do it—you are with me.”

"You do it—I’m in the background encouraging.”

"You do it—I’m with you in spirit.”

SUCCESSION IS CARRYING THE SPIRIT OF THE FORMER

John 14:12. (English standard version)

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.

will also do Jesus empowers believers to do God’s work on earth, which includes performing miracles (compare Acts 2:43b)

…many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.).

greater This term refers to the amount of miracles (as described in John 14:11). Believers will collectively (and perhaps individually) perform more miracles than Jesus. It is Jesus’ intention to extend the work of the Spirit beyond Himself to all believers, as He had already begun to do

~DURING HIS MINISTRY~

Luke 9:1-6. (English Standard Version)

Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Apostles

9 And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. 3 And he said to them, “Take nothing for your journey, no staff, nor bag, nor bread, nor money; and do not have two tunics. 4 And whatever house you enter, stay there, and from there depart. 5 And wherever they do not receive you, when you leave that town shake off the dust from your feet as a testimony against them.” 6 And they departed and went through the villages, preaching the gospel and healing everywhere.

~AFTER HIS MINISTRY & RESURRECTION ~

John‬ ‭20‬:‭21‬-‭23‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”

Breath is often a picture of the Spirit (in fact, the Hebrew word for Spirit is also the word for breath), so Jesus “breathed” on the men while He was standing with them in His physical presence to indicate what He was preparing to do later, in the book of Acts, by the Spirit.

Breathalyzer

The machine is designed to test a certain sample of air. Law enforcement is trained to have you blow through the disposable tube for several seconds, until you’re almost out of air in your lungs. The tube is hollow, so the breath blows through it.

However, there is a very small part of the tube that is an inlet into the PBT machine. When you have exhaled through the tube for several seconds, you’re beginning to exhale what is called deep lung air. This is believed to give a more accurate sample of what a true blood alcohol reading would be, as it is the air that is found in the hollow chamber of the lungs is exchanging oxygen with the blood that is being exhaled. At that point, the officer depresses the “Set” button, which will allow the machine to capture a sample of that air running through the tube and be tested.

Most people believe these machines are testing their blood alcohol, but in reality they are testing your breath alcohol.

1 Corinthians 15:45, ESV:

Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

Life-giving=Quickening spirit would mean not only living soul but the soul which makes alive or the soul which has the power/authority to give life. The gospel of John has more textual evidence of quickening spirit, the one which is alive and gives life

Another name is alcohol (al-ghawl = a ghoul, a ghost), which literally means spirit.

Drugs is Pharma, pharmakeia, Greek word for magic and sorcery, manipulation

When you are drunk

People may experience:

Whole body: blackout, dehydration, or flushing

Cognitive: amnesia, mental confusion, or unresponsiveness

Gastrointestinal: nausea or vomiting

Behavioral: aggression or lack of restraint

Also common: depression, euphoria, problems with coordination, rapid involuntary eye movement, or slurred speech

IMPAIRED vs. EMPOWERED

***Losing control or giving God control***

Ephesians 5:18

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Holy Spirit

Debauchery excessive indulgence and sensual pleasure
