Passion Week 2026 - Day 6, Part 3

Passion Week - Day 6, Part 3:
Love on the Cross

April 3, 2026
Scripture: Luke 23:33–34
'And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots. '

Reflection:
At the center of history, and at the center of Passion Week, stands a cross.
Wooden beams soaked in injustice, blood, and love. The innocent Son of God,
suspended between earth and sky, rejected by man yet obedient to the Father.
With nails in His hands and thorns on His brow, Jesus could have called down
angels, could have come down—but He stayed.

Why?
Because love held Him there. Because you were on His mind. Because redemption required sacrifice.

Even in agony, Jesus spoke mercy: “Father, forgive them.” He offered hope to a
dying thief. He cared for His mother. He breathed grace with every labored
word. The cross wasn’t just where Jesus died—it’s where God’s love was fully
displayed, poured out, once and for all. On the cross, Jesus took on the weight
of every sin, every failure, every wound—and in exchange, He gave us life. This
is the heart of the gospel: Jesus died so we could live.

Today, pause and look at the cross. Not with guilt, but with gratitude. Not as a
tragic end, but as a victorious beginning. It is finished. And it was all for you.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for staying on the cross—for enduring the pain, the shame,
and the weight of my sin. Your love is deeper than I can understand, but today I
receive it with awe and gratitude. Help me live in the shadow of the cross,
walking in the freedom You paid for. Amen.
