Passion Week 2026 - Day 7

Passion Week - Day 7:
The Day Hell Shook

April 4, 2026
Scriptures:
'For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.'
I Peter 3:18-22

'I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. '
Revelation 1:18

Reflection:
After the cross and before the resurrection, Jesus does something powerful and
mysterious—He descends. The Apostles’ doctrine says it plainly: “He
descended into hell.” Not as a victim of death, but as a victor over it.

While His body rests in Joseph’s tomb, His spirit goes where no righteous man
had ever gone as conqueror.

He enters the realm of the dead—not to suffer, but to proclaim. Not to be
judged, but to announce judgment. He preaches not repentance, but victory.
The serpent is crushed. The curse is broken. No place is too dark for Jesus!
Victory has been declared and the keys of death, hell and the grave now belong
to Him!

Hell has been put on notice as it hears the first whispers of the resurrection
before the stone is ever rolled away!

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for going to the very depths to proclaim victory. You are the
Light that darkness cannot overcome. Even when I can’t see You working, help
me trust that You are. When I feel stuck between pain and hope, remind me that
the battle has already been won. I wait with faith for resurrection morning. Jesus
name...Amen!
